INSPIRATION - It’s all beginning now, baby blue
The Queen’s Jubilee was a few weeks ago but it seems like the big fashion houses are still celebrating ROYALTY with many collections taking on the baby blue colour that looks so fabulous on Marie Antoinette, another famous Queen. We just watched Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette the other day and the baby blues were just so delicious we were delighted to see the colours splashed all over the runways!
Whether it be a sweet powder blue dress (POWER DRESSES, phroarrrr Chanel!), delicate suits (a la RN) or just a hint of the colour peeping through (like Balenciaga), we think this colour is really going to take off.
We have three baby/powder blue items in our store, so get hopping and save thousands:
c) Blue coat
Oversized boyfriend sweaters, a fashionista’s staple ;) We’ve got a fab oatmeal/beige number in store now!
INSPIRATION #9: BROCADE
Though much of the fashion world may be going through a ’90s minimalist revival a la Jil Sander, there is a quiet but strong current of designers like Christopher Kane, Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone and Jason Wu who are opting for a little bit of opulence through beautifully brazen and luxurious brocades. The richly textured metallic fabric recalls regal courts of the baroque period and the monarch of Louis XIV whose palace was the embodiment of splendor. To work this trend seamlessly into your wardrobe, take it in small doses, like a slim fitting brocade blazer or a straight fitting skirt and pair it with plain neutral colours to make it a feature piece!
Here at Honest Folk have got the perfect pencil skirt for this trend by Scanlan & Theodore in a gorgeous golden brocade and may I say it is fit for royalty!
