INSPIRATION - It’s all beginning now, baby blue
The Queen’s Jubilee was a few weeks ago but it seems like the big fashion houses are still celebrating ROYALTY with many collections taking on the baby blue colour that looks so fabulous on Marie Antoinette, another famous Queen. We just watched Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette the other day and the baby blues were just so delicious we were delighted to see the colours splashed all over the runways!
Whether it be a sweet powder blue dress (POWER DRESSES, phroarrrr Chanel!), delicate suits (a la RN) or just a hint of the colour peeping through (like Balenciaga), we think this colour is really going to take off.
We have three baby/powder blue items in our store, so get hopping and save thousands:

INSPIRATION - BRITISH SWAG
Winter is here and the United Kingdom has always been a country we look up to for winter gear. Check prints from brands like Burberry and woolen goodies like kilts are etched in our minds when we think of quintessential winter goodies. We’ve picked up a great pair of green check pants for your winter fun!
Perfect for the grungy punk look (pair with some docs and leather jacket for the ultimate Aggy Deyn-look) or the preppy school girl look (with a cashmere sweater to make even Blair Wardolf jealous). Don’t look past the versatility of a pair of trousers like this.
Check out our other items in our store.
INSPIRATION: MATOAKA
We grew up watching Disney classics such as Cinderella, Pocahontas, Snow White etc etc. The heroines were dreamy, strong-willed and were role-models to look up to (at the time, I mean we were little!). The story of Matoaka or Pocahontas (her nickname which translates to “little wanton”) was striking for me, I thought her free-spirit was inspirational. This is probably where my love for Native Indian culture began, getting to visit the National Museum of American Indians in NYC solidified this. Drawing inspiration for one of my childhood heroines, we found this gorgeous corduroy bib front long sleeved dress. The tan colour is reminiscent of the dress that Pocahontas wore in the 1995 Disney movie! If you were inspired by Pocahontas when you were younger, you should definitely check out our pocahontas dress!!

INSPIRATION - Linen Dresses & Romance was Born!
This season Romance was Born (one of L’s favourite labels) incorporated a lot of linen in their AW 2012 collection, HAPPY CAMPER. One of our favourite pieces is the linen splice dress (especially in the navy colourway)! It has a delightful thick linen top with a bright silk printed skirt. RWB makes some wonderful clothes and designs their fabrics themselves as well - rumours has it, they do the designs in Melbourne in the same building as Alice Euphemia! (Though we did hear this many years ago!)
Having this dress in mind, we immediately saw the beauty of this navy spliced dress that is in our eBay store at the moment. Though it doesn’t have bright colours to entice you, the skirt is made from microsuede, giving it an equally luxurious feel to silk! Sitting just above the knee, we left this dress unaltered as we like the “babydoll” shapelessness of the waist line! If you feel like more ooommphh just style it with your favourite belt - a stand out colour like red or fuchsia would go wonderfully.
xx HF
INSPIRATION! - the casual look
The problem with cold winters (dang, you lucky Australians who live more north than us!) is that its harder to dress up. You don’t get as many opportunities to wear that glamorous dress and you don’t get to put on your favourite pair of shorts (at least without a few pairs of 200 dernier tights underneath ;)) but that doesn’t mean we should give up on looking good.
We’ve taken a leaf out of the gorgeous Asian tourists that float through Melbourne from Japan and Korea etc and their effortless chic style with their slouchy outfits. They always manage to make an oversized sweater with a maxi skirt or loose fitting jeans look so lovely. No longer are these slouchy sweaters banished for the bedroom and for lounging around the house - these pieces are perfect for the casual “I’m not even trying but I do look fabulous, don’t I?” look!

b) navy and white striped knit - WOOPS! Someone bought this already!
c) loose fitting oatmeal sweater

INSPIRATION #8
Matching twin pieces aren’t exactly fresh meat (insert Lady Gaga joke here). Remember the power suits of the 80s and 90s?! These twin pieces are the modern day alternative to the power suits our mothers donned when we were young. Midriff bearing, fun and flirty, many fashion houses have adopted this look in their S/S 2012 collections - Roland Mouret, Dolce and Gabbana, Pucci and others.
We personally love this look; we even cropped our twin piece to show MORE skin to be a bit more daring! Check out our twin piece at: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320905661592

Inspiration #5
This week Honest Folk has two beautiful tops in stock - both cropped. Even though this isn’t a new trend, it’s a trend we’ll forever embrace. If you haven’t gotten onto it yet, try it out now!
If you have a plain dress or something you want to jazz up your jeans with, the cropped tee is perfect for you! Here are some reasons to embrace the short:
a) You don’t get a bulky mess around your waist and hips like when you’re tucking longer tops into high waisted items
b) Crop tees stop at your waist and helps HIGHLIGHT your slim lines - the fact that it isn’t hugging your waist gives you more definition
c) Layers layers layers. Winter’s almost here and Kate Bosworth shows that the layered look is classic and works so well with a cropped tee thrown over the top
d) It’s a great excuse to show some skin. Just a hint of stomach showing between your top and your pants/skirt/shorts - reminds me of the ability for geishas to wow a man with just a simple flash of their wrist or their neck
e) If you’re going to wear a tight cropped top (like Chloe Sevigny), just ensure you wear something waist-defining like those fab denim shorts she has on. What a fox!

INSPIRATION #3.
We’ve already raved about how much we love Frank Ocean, but really our love affair extends to the whole Odd Future crew. The boys have a huge FAN club - their music and their style IS influential.
Their collection of Golf Wang gear speaks for itself. Beautiful cut shirts with amazing prints - buttoned up all the way to the top, of course. And that’s the way we like our shirts. As many buttons done as possible.
Outside Golf Wang, the boys still bring that comical flair that fashion needs. Less rigidity. More ridiculousness. Tyler is often seen in tshirts and shirts of strange patterns/prints and we completely respect that.

Speaking of pushing fashion boundaries! This woman!!
WHAT A CHAMP! My love for her is the same as my my love for Lee Lin Chin. I recall watching SBS news as a child and being fascinated by her hair/glasses and overall flair!

Yayoi Kusama, one of my favourite artists, channels her work through her personal style. “If it were not for art, I would have killed myself a long time ago,” she famously said.
